Human Hair Wigs for Hair Loss

January 29, 2019

About 35 million people suffer from hair thinning and hair loss. By the age of 60, women will suffer from a hair loss rate of 80%.

The hair isn’t called a person’s crowning glory for nothing, especially for women who are affected with losing hair as much as men are. To deal with hair loss, wearing human hair wigs may be a solution that’s harmless, cost-effective and extremely easy to pull off.

Here are the different types of wigs for hair loss that you can use, as well as tips to maintain them as if they’re brand-new:

Full lace

A full lace wig comes with a base that is fully secured with lace. The base appears like a lace cap to cover the entire head. Natural human hair is embedded into the lace.

Full lace human hair wigs are more versatile than other types because they can be styled differently. These are also a lot easier to wear. These extra features make full lace wigs a little more expensive than other types.

Lace front

As the name suggests, lace front human hair wigs have a sheer lace base at the front, bordering along the hairline. The rest of the base is made of a stronger fabric.

Like the full lace type, every hair strand is sewn by hand into the lace. Because of the sheer lace material at the front, this type of wig lets you enjoy the look of a natural hairline despite the hair loss. It can also be styled like your natural hair such as ponytails and braids.

Monofilament

A lot different than the full lace and front lace type of wigs for hair loss, these wigs are made with a sheer, thinner material called monofilament. Hair strands are individually hand-knotted into the filament—a tedious process, but one that produces a high-quality wig that looks the most natural. It is also sewn in such a way that it mimics the natural growth of the hair from scalp.

Because of the labour-intensive process of making a monofilament wig, it has a higher price point compared to other human hair wigs.

Caring for your wigs

Regardless of the kind of wigs for hair loss you choose, it should be treated as an investment. Whether you choose a full lace, lace front or monofilament type of wig—these hair accessories need to be properly taken care of.

Your wigs should be kept out of direct sunlight when not in use to preserve the color. You may store the wigs on a satin, dust-proof bag to prevent frizz. You can also don it on a mannequin head to maintain the integrity of the base and the quality of the hair strands.
